stage directions
where I've been and where I'm headed
Hey there, it’s been a while! My color coded G-Cal tells me that I may have a few too many things going on right now. I would love to tell you all about it while I try to get back into the swing of writing here.
What’s New
I’m stage managing a musical! In 2018 I saw the national tour of School of Rock and I haven’t shut up about it since. When we were having our show selection meetings for this summer’s musical, I pitched School of Rock to my team and the rest is history. Rehearsing this show is my favorite thing in the world. I get to hang out with the coolest people and watch some mega talented performers bring one of my favorite shows to life. What an incredible joy it is to be “band manager” for this group of hooligans. I leave every rehearsal feeling so grateful and honored that this is my job.
In other news, we’re less than a week out from the 3rd annual Batesville Pride festival. Even though rehearsals have kept me from most of the planning meetings, I love this organization and the people in it with my whole heart. I’m so happy to be part of the group that brings this fun little rainbow party full of music, games, crafts, and vendors to our rural town. Our board works so hard to make this event happen and it’s one of my favorite days of the year.

Between Pride and the musical happening in the next few weeks, I’m busier than I’ve been in quite a while. I have a tendency to get overwhelmed when I’ve got this much going on so I’ve been trying to do a better job of taking care of myself this time around. Things like getting good sleep, eating quality meals instead of hitting a drive thru on my way to rehearsal, and spending time just sitting outside and breathing fresh air are all keeping me sane right now. The other half of it is that I feel so incredibly lucky that I get to do all of these awesome things. I will be completely exhausted by the end of this month, but every second of it is worth it. I have a feeling my next post will be another long, sappy love letter to all of my June activities, so stay tuned for that sometime next month!
Finally, it wouldn’t be a Carleigh post if I didn’t promote my people, so:

I love this! And I feel you, June is going to be a wild ride, but what a ride it will be!
